If your squid proxy stops working, and size of the logs is not critical (see my older posts, 2G is the limit), and you have something like this in your /var/log/messages :
Oct 10 10:41:43 proksi squid: Squid Parent: child process 7063 started
Oct 10 10:41:43 proksi (squid): The redirector helpers are crashing too rapidly, need help!
Oct 10 10:41:43 proksi squid: Squid Parent: child process 7063 exited due to signal 6
It usually means that there is a problem with redirector program (in m y case that is SquidGuard), and that it should be (at least temporarily) turned off.
Turing off is done in /etc/squid/squid.conf, line :
This line should be commented out (#redirect_program /usr/local/bin/squidGuard) and Squid restarted…
Than check the size of SquidGuard logs, which are in : /usr/local/squidGuard/log
If hey are near, or have passed the critical limit of 2G, copy them, and null them.
