Virtual machine (VM) and wget from command line

So I get VERY strange errors from my VM RHEL4U5 when I tried to do wget : no route to host
I checked all the routes, and they are OK
Firefox from VM gets on Internet with no problem.
In Applications/Preferances/Proxy Settings all is set up right, but wget is still not working!
And then I catch the problem :
# env|grep proxy
#
There is none! In environment variables proxy is not set.
# export http_proxy=”http://10.10.10.94:8080″
# env|grep proxy
http_proxy=http://10.10.10.94:8080
Note : this solution is good only for the current session, and is not global, but sometimes can be enough.
After this do some testing :
# wget www.google.com
–09:57:12– http://www.google.com/
=> `index.html’
